I want to steal a glance
at her subtle perfection
but this room is too full
ff distractions
I can't seem to catch her eye
No, that's an excuse.
Because she wills me to look
How can I deny her?
Something is squeezing
the life out of me
I can feel my energy draining
I suppress a shiver
and shake her brothers hand
off my shoulder
Just a warning, he said.
She's right there
Across the room
I can hear her laugh
Floating is way to my ears
"Look at me"
What if I misunderstood her?
She may not have intended for me to notice her
but how could I not?
There's a man at her side
I can't look at her directly
her dress dances around her knees
my heart
He who cursed the heavens by KeeThio-N-King, literature
Literature
He who cursed the heavens
His hair was dark,
Stained with the troubles of his past
But his eyes were bright,
Shining brilliantly with the hopes of his future
His face,
Held no trace of warmth
Yet his heart,
Was bursting with emotion
His arms,
Told tales of wars passed and battles won
His hands,
Were soft and careful
Each touch was nothing more than a whisper.
And you would never be able to tell
From the beauty of his smile
That those same lips
Once cursed the heavens
And called hell – ‘Home’
I write to share my story with the wind
I write to pour my thoughts out to the sky
I write to sympathize with the moon
I write and write
I write to silence the voice in my head
I write to calm the raging storm inside
I write to bore those demons to sleep
I write and write
I write in hopes that one day you would understand
(my words, my thoughts, my methods, my madness)
I write
And I’ll continue to write
Until that day comes.

Sensory Poem: Nature's Call
Prompt: Nature’s Call
Flowers
Their scent plays a sweet melody
Let their voices be heard!
Their colors taste of spring
flavors exploding like fireworks
Petals like musical notes,
waltz with the wind
Leaves swing to the rhythm,
of rain drops singing
Lively greens mingle with pale yellows
The flowers are nature’s orchestra
Their tune can be tasted,
by those who hear the flowers hum
“Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend”
I wish I could rewind the hands of time
I want to take it all back
I didn’t mean anything I said
I was expressing the qualities I lack
“Somewhere along in the bitterness”
I pointed your flaws
All you did was return the favour
I sensed it, but I tried to ignore
This wave of oncoming danger
“I would have stayed up with you whole night”
I wanted to fix this, but where did I go wrong?
But it’s too late now, the damage is done
I’m forced to admit defeat
Because death has won
“Had I known, How to Save a Life”
I've planted a seed today
It was implanted in you
I trust that you would nurture it
I'm putting my faith in you
I have planted this seed before,
In others that I met
But the seed was cast aside
It grew, but withered quickly with regret
Surely it can't be that difficult
To make this seed grow
Maybe this time it would be different?
Yes, in time, we will know
May this seed grow and one day blossom
And share its beauty with others
May it fill them with joy and compassion
This delicate seed of friendship
Glass
Look carefully, you'll see it reflects
Clear
You can see right through it
Tinted
Sometimes it conceals the truth
Crack
One crack could cause it to shatter
Glass and I are similar
Fragile
I'm not as tough as I appear to be
Mirror
I'm a reflection of the "real me"
Did you know?
It breaks easily?
